
About Katie
Katie York is a proud Queer Disabled educator, advocate, and community organizer.
Professionally, Katie has worked in higher education for over fifteen years. At their current employer, Katie is a co-chair for both the Committee on LGTBQ+ Advocacy, Support, and Inclusion (CLASI) and Neurodiversity Unbound. Additionally, Katie is also the founder of Harford County Neurodivergents, a peer group which aims to build community and equip self-advocates with neurodivergent-affirming resources.
Katie is a proud board member of both the Upper Chesapeake Bay Pride Foundation and the Arc of Maryland. Katie is a member of the Maryland Department of Education Family Advisory Council and were appointed to the Harford County Public Schools Family Life Citizens Advisory Committee and Library Materials Reconsideration Committee. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and a graduate certificate in disability services in higher education. They are currently pursuing a Master of Science in disability services in higher education at City University of New York.
